#1 World Largest Mall~~South China Mall in Dongguan, China

A Chinese billionaire made rich through his business in the instant noodle industry built the mall in 2005, and since then it remains almost completely vacant. Dongguan has a population of over ten million people, yet the mall is so large it could not be constructed in the downtown and had to be moved to a suburb and can only be reached through car or bus, which many people do not have access to.
After the first several years failed to attract shops, many simply stopped to even consider the mall as a realistic space for a shop. While it is mostly empty there are some shops that fill its massive space. In the closest area to the parking garage there are several fast food restaurants, yet little else. The mall does contain several amazing features including a replica of the Arc de Triomphe, Venice’s St Mark’s bell tower, canals with gondolas, and even an indoor-outdoor rollercoaster! Each section of the mall is modeled after a real city or region such as Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Venice, Egypt, the Caribbean, and California!
